The Time and Space Machine cover Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab' for Q magazine tribute CD

The Time and Space Machine have recorded a cosmic cover version of Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab', for a tribute CD that is being given away with the August issue (out July 2nd). The quietus reckon it's "like Lou Reed's Transformer if he'd been imbibing pep pills in the sun, rather than giving off the whole mardy New York smackhead vibe."

The track on the Q CD is a very edited version - the full Rehab track is about fifteen minutes long! It starts with the song and then kicks off into a Farfisa and space echo guitar groove that stretches the track out of all recognition. Maybe we'll release that version one day...

Listen to it here.

Rough Trade In Store Gig - July 24th

The Time and Space Machine play a live in store gig at London's Rough Trade East shop, Brick Lane E1 on 24th July at 7pm. Wristbands are available free to anyone who buys the new T+SM album 'Taste The Lazer' before the gig, while a few extra bands will be given out on the day.

It's our first London appearance and cements a continuing relationship with Rough Trade that started when I took them my first single, aged 14, and they bought the entire pressing with money out of the till. Rough Trade, I salute you!

Full details of the in store here.

Liverpool Psychedelic Festival

Our June 3rd Liverpool gig has been postponed to accommodate a much larger show on Saturday 29th September, billed as the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia. The gig will feature 2 stages and a host of acts, including Icelands Dead Skeletons, plus the Lucid Dream, the Shook Ups, Will Sergeant and many more. Check out the details here.

This should be a great gig as Liverpool has always had strong psychedelic undertones. I ran a club called the Hangout in Liverpool in the mid 80's, which tripped the light fantastic every week to psych and garage, plus live shows from the Cardiacs, Freight Train, Zodiac Mindwarp and more. We'll certainly be bringing that spirit to Liverpool with the 5 piece Time and Space Machine band. Turn on...
